100Mbps Cat5e Network Patch Cord

The 100Mbps Cat5e network patch cord is a copper-based solution optimized for low-speed data transmission, making it a staple for applications where high bandwidth is not requiredsuch as legacy office networks, residential internet connections, IP cameras, or basic IoT devices (e.g., smart thermostats). Unlike higher-category cords (Cat6/Cat6a) that support 1 Gbps+, Cat5e is designed to deliver stable 100Mbps speeds over distances up to 100 meters, balancing performance and cost for low-bandwidth needs.

Constructed with four twisted copper pairs (24AWG), this cord uses unshielded twisted pair (UTP) design to minimize crosstalk (signal interference between pairs) and electromagnetic interference (EMI)critical for maintaining 100Mbps stability. The twists per inch (TPI) are optimized for low-speed transmission (typically 1822 TPI), ensuring sufficient noise reduction without the tighter twists (and higher costs) of Cat6. The jacket is made of durable PVC or LSZH, lightweight and flexible for easy routing through offices, homes, or small retail spaces.

Connectors are RJ45, with gold-plated contacts to ensure reliable electrical conductivity and prevent corrosionextending the cords lifespan for long-term low-speed use. The cord complies with TIA/EIA-568-C.2 standards for Cat5e, guaranteeing compatibility with all 100Mbps-enabled hardware (e.g., legacy switches, DSL modems, old laptops). It is available in lengths from 0.5 meters (desktop-to-router runs) to 100 meters (residential or small office links) and color-coded (e.g., gray, blue) for easy network segment identification.

While Cat5e can technically support 1 Gbps over short distances (up to 50 meters), the 100Mbps variant is optimized for consistent low-speed performancemaking it more cost-effective than Cat6 for applications that dont need higher bandwidth. For example, it is ideal for connecting IP cameras that stream 1080p video (requiring ~48Mbps per camera) or legacy office computers used for email and web browsing (needing <10Mbps). For organizations or users prioritizing affordability for low-speed connectivity, the 100Mbps Cat5e network patch cord delivers reliable performance without unnecessary costs.
