SC-SC fiber jumper, also known as SC-SC patch cord, is a widely used optical connectivity component that features SC (Subscriber Connector) connectors on both ends, designed to establish reliable connections between optical devices in FTTH networks, data centers, and enterprise networks. The SC connector is a push-pull, square-shaped connector with a ceramic ferrule (typically 2.5mm in diameter) that ensures precise alignment of the fiber core, minimizing signal loss and maximizing transmission efficiency. This design makes SC-SC jumpers easy to install and remove without the need for tools, reducing installation time and maintenance costs—key advantages for both professional network technicians and end-users in FTTH applications.
SC-SC fiber jumpers are available in both single-mode and multi-mode variants, with single-mode jumpers being the most common for FTTH deployments due to their low attenuation and long-distance transmission capabilities. Single-mode SC-SC jumpers typically use 9/125μm fiber (G.652D or G.657A1) and operate efficiently at 1310nm and 1550nm wavelengths, with average insertion loss of ≤0.2dB and maximum insertion loss of ≤0.4dB, ensuring minimal signal degradation. Multi-mode SC-SC jumpers, on the other hand, use 50/125μm or 62.5/125μm fiber and are suitable for short-distance connections, such as between indoor FTTH optical network terminals (ONTs) and routers. The jumpers are available in various lengths (from 1m to 100m) and configurations (single or duplex), allowing for flexible deployment in different indoor and outdoor FTTH scenarios.
The construction of SC-SC fiber jumpers is designed for durability and performance, with the outer jacket made of high-quality materials such as LSZH or PVC. LSZH jackets are preferred for indoor FTTH applications due to their flame-retardant and non-toxic properties, while PVC jackets are suitable for outdoor use where cost-effectiveness is a priority. The ceramic ferrule is precision-polished to ensure optimal optical performance, and the connector housing is made of engineering resin or metal, providing mechanical stability and resistance to wear and tear. SC-SC jumpers comply with international standards such as ANSI/TIA/EIA 568.3-D and ISO/IEC 11801, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of optical devices, including ONTs, optical splitters, fiber distribution frames (ODFs), and routers. Additionally, all SC-SC jumpers undergo strict factory testing for insertion loss, return loss, and mechanical durability before leaving the factory, guaranteeing reliable performance in FTTH networks. With their ease of use, high performance, and wide compatibility, SC-SC fiber jumpers are an essential component in delivering seamless, high-speed connectivity in FTTH systems.
