GYTS Fiber Optic Cable: Steel-Armored Outdoor Solution for Long-Distance Transmission Networks
As global telecommunications networks expand rapidly, the demand for reliable, durable outdoor fiber optic cables has never been higher. GYTS (G: Gel-filled, Y: Polyethylene sheath, T: Tube-type structure, S: Steel tape armored) fiber optic cable stands out as a premium choice for long-distance outdoor transmission, engineered to withstand harsh environmental conditions while delivering exceptional signal integrity. Our GYTS Fiber Optic Cable is designed for telecom backbone networks, metropolitan area networks (MAN), and outdoor access networks, providing a robust and cost-effective solution for carriers, ISPs, and enterprise network deployments worldwide.
Core Structural & Technical Advantages
The GYTS cable adopts a classic loose tube structure, where optical fibers are placed in a gel-filled PBT (Polybutylene Terephthalate) loose tube. This gel filling effectively blocks moisture intrusion, protecting the fibers from water damage and ensuring long-term transmission stability—critical for outdoor applications exposed to rain, humidity, and underground moisture. The loose tube design also allows the fibers to move freely within the tube, absorbing mechanical stress and reducing signal attenuation caused by bending or stretching during installation and operation.
Equipped with steel tape armor (S-type armor), the cable features superior mechanical protection against rodent bites, external impacts, compression, and abrasion. The steel armor offers higher tensile and compressive strength compared to aluminum armor, making it ideal for harsher outdoor environments such as rocky areas or regions with high rodent activity. The outer sheath is made of high-quality HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene), which boasts superior UV resistance, weather resistance, and corrosion resistance. It can operate reliably in extreme temperature ranges from -40°C to 70°C, adapting to diverse climatic conditions such as deserts, plateaus, coastal areas, and cold regions.
Our GYTS cable supports both single-mode (SM, G.652D, G.657A1/A2) and multi-mode (MM, OM3/OM4) optical fibers, with fiber counts ranging from 2 to 144 cores (customizable up to 288 cores). Single-mode variants enable long-distance transmission (up to 80km at 1310nm wavelength, 120km at 1550nm wavelength) with data rates up to 100 Gbps, making them ideal for telecom backbone and long-haul access networks. Multi-mode options are suitable for short-distance outdoor-to-indoor transitions or campus network deployments, supporting 10 Gbps transmission up to 550m (OM4).
Key Performance Features
• Low Attenuation: Utilizes high-purity optical fibers and advanced manufacturing processes to ensure low signal loss (typical attenuation: ≤0.36 dB/km at 1310nm for SM, ≤0.22 dB/km at 1550nm for SM), guaranteeing clear and stable transmission over long distances.
• Moisture & Water Resistance: Gel-filled loose tubes and HDPE outer sheath form a dual moisture barrier, preventing water penetration even in underground or submerged environments (complies with IEC 60794-1-2 Type B water blocking standard).
• Rodent & Mechanical Protection: Steel tape armor provides enhanced resistance to rodents, heavy impacts, and compression, ensuring cable integrity in harsh outdoor and direct burial environments, thus reducing maintenance costs caused by cable damage.
• Easy Installation: Lightweight design and flexible structure facilitate aerial installation (with messenger wire option), duct installation, and direct burial (in non-rocky areas), adapting to multiple laying scenarios.
• Long Service Life: High-quality materials and stable structure ensure a service life of over 25 years, meeting the long-term operation requirements of telecom networks.
Optimal Applications
Our GYTS Fiber Optic Cable is widely used in outdoor network deployments that demand high mechanical strength and durability:
• Telecom Backbone Networks: Connecting core network nodes, central offices, and regional hubs, enabling long-distance high-speed data transmission for national and provincial telecom networks.
• Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN): Laying in urban ducts or aerial routes to connect residential communities, commercial districts, and industrial parks, supporting large-scale broadband access.
• Rural & Suburban Access Networks: Providing long-distance connectivity for rural areas, bridging the digital divide with reliable outdoor fiber infrastructure.
• Enterprise & Campus Networks: Connecting multiple buildings in industrial parks, universities, or corporate campuses via outdoor routes, supporting high-bandwidth inter-building communication.
• Smart City Deployments: Serving as the transmission backbone for smart city IoT devices (e.g., traffic surveillance cameras, environmental sensors, smart street lights) in outdoor public areas.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
Our GYTS Fiber Optic Cable strictly complies with international standards, including IEC 60794-1-2 (for loose tube fiber optic cables), ITU-T G.652D/G.657A1, and RoHS. Each batch of cables undergoes rigorous quality testing, including attenuation testing, water blocking testing, tensile strength testing, bending loss testing, and temperature cycle testing, to ensure consistent performance and reliability. We also offer customized solutions, such as adjusting fiber count, adding messenger wires for aerial installation, or using flame-retardant HDPE sheaths for special environments, to meet the specific needs of different regional markets and projects.
